Photographs of Don Bergland’s  casa and  studio in Guanajuato, Mexico. For many years, Bergland has spent 3-4 months a year living in Mexico. He travels down, sets up a studio, and works in a completely different environment. This is the third year he has lived in Guanajuato in central Mexico. This year, he is living with his wife and studio cat for 4-5 months in an old historical two-story casa in the east end of the city.  As his studio is entirely digital, it is easy to bring his entire production process down on a laptop computer. He establishe s   several good  working place s  in the casa, and sets up to develop a variety of creative projects.  He is fascinated by this city and keeps returning to it year after year. Perhaps he hopes that the historical and aesthetic dimensions of the place will inspire some visionary creativity. Perhaps it is because he needs the intellectual confrontation with his own evolving self that this city provides. He says it is because he needs to learn, to adapt, and to emerge into new arenas of awareness.
