Bird-Sawyer Homestead 1637. 41 Humphreys Street, Dorchester, Mass. The Bird-Sawyer Homestead occupied continuously since 1637 by the Thomas Bird descendants, soldiers and officers of all early wars, officials of Church and Town. Here on the nights of March 3rd and 4th, 1776, during the fortifying of Dorchester Heights was American army headquarters.
