New York, Feb. 24 -- Dourniese Hawkins, 20, mans a 90-pound jackhammer in front of apartment house on east side of Manhattan Wednesday, working for the Consolidated Edison Co. She is first woman to occupy manholes for the utility, her duties being to check out gas leaks with a bulky gas-testing machine, and do excavation work.
