Anne Bellows. (Bellows) / The fifth study of daughter Anne, age 13, shows her in a three-quarter pose, elegantly dressed in outdoor clothing. The artist was intrigued by women in black hats and did studies of his wife and younger daughter similarly costumed ("The Black Hat" [M. 113], "Jean in a Black Hat" [M. 187]). (Mason)
