Los Angeles – Strike Stops Jet Plane Production – This is the scene at North American Aviation company’s F-86 Sabre jet assembly line today as a result of the strike that has halted production of jet fighters and interceptors in three factories across the nation. Some 33,000 workers have been idled since the walkout began at 12:01 a.m. yesterday in a dispute over the CIO United Auto Workers union wage and contract demands. The company’s plants at Columbus, O., and Fresno, Calif., also have been struck.
