Big Birthday for Thomas -- Frank Thomas, right, Pittsburgh Pirate third baseman, celebrated his 28th birthday with two home runs, one of them a grand slammer and drove in a total of seven runs to lead his team to a 14-6 victory over the Giants. Thomas is shown in the dressing room with teammate Bill Mazeroski who homered with two aboard. Thomas took over the league leadership in home runs with 19 and runs batted in with 57.
