And the Red Sea Lay Beneath Them- Gemini 11 Astronauts Charles Conrad and Richard Gordon photographed this view of the earth, showing Ethiopia and Somali in northeast Africa, with the Red Sea and the gulf of Aden, in their record-breaking flight. An antenna of the Agena, which boosted them to their record altitude, is at left, ahead of the spacecraft from which this picture was made. This photo was released today at the Manned Space Center at Houston, Tex., which said it was made at 460 miles altitude.
