In the middle of the image is the composer who sits and meditates and is draped in a great romantic cloak. His right hand is on his chin and his left hand is holding a sheet of paper. Three female figures are arranged around him. The one on the left, seen in profile, holds a palm in her right hand. In her other hand she holds a laurel wreath and is ready to crown him. The middle female figure is flying and blows a trumpet. The female figure on the right is seen from the profile and lost in the shadow. She holds a lyre.
