Baseball Magnate Sinking; Last Rites Given. Colonel Jacob Ruppert, owner of the New York Yankees baseball club and president of the Ruppert Brewery, who has reported "in dangerous condition" in a bulletin issued today from his home at 1120 Fifth Avenue here. Colonel Ruppert Has been ill of Phlebitis, a vein inflammation, since last April. Since then he has repeatedly rallied and more than once appeared well on the way to recovery. Sunday, however, his condition changed for the worse. The above photograph was taken on his 70th birthday on August 5, 1937.
