Bean trial begins

Handcuffs are removed from Thomas Lee Bean, 18, right, at courtroom door by Sheriff's Sgt. Ernie Schwartz as Bean enters Washoe County District Court in Reno today to witness jury selection for his murder trial. The court called a list of 132 potential jurors instead of the usual 68 to hear the widely-publicized case. Bean is accused of the mutilation slaying in April of Sonja McCaskie, 24, a former Olympic skier and a native of Scotland.
