Leonard M. Bayless, 21, center, was taken into custody by Detectives Albert Detert, left, and William Elder today and held for the coroner's inquest into the rape-slaying of Mrs. Gladys Taylor Hallenbeck Crossley. The battered body of the twice-divorced mother of four children was found in a park here Saturday. Police Chief Jeremiah O'Connell said the man admitted being with Mrs. Crossley early Friday night but that he could not recall what happened afterward.
