William J. Holbrook, 34, above, has admitted marrying eight or nine women and divorcing them after getting their money, the Newark police said yesterday after arresting him on a charge of obtaining money under false pretenses. Holbrook, who presented himself as a doctor, was taken into custody Thursday when his next bride-to-be became suspicious, contacted police and agreed to set a trap. Police were waiting for him when he drove up to the woman's Newark home to pick her up for a wedding ceremony.
