The Air Force announced 6/30 the selection of four more military Astronauts, including the first Negro, and the first Vietnam combat pilot, for its Manned Orbiting Program. The four Aerospace research pilots (L-R) Maj. James A. Abrahamson, the Vietnam veteran; Lt. Col. Robert T. Herres; Maj. Robert H. Lawrence Jr., the first Negro; and Maj. Donald H. Peterson; will join 12 other Air Force Officers who will train for the military's first manned space program--scheduled for launch in 1970.
