Accused wife slayer

David J. Rhoda (above) 43, is charged with murder here today in the shooting of his estranged wife Gertrude, 24, in front of a tavern last night. The wife, a night club singer, came out to talk to Rhoda and, while hundreds of tourists looked in horror, he allegedly pumped several bullets into her body while she pleaded for mercy. Rhoda later told police his wife had "disgraced" him by dunning his employers for money.
