A three-masted whaler, the Charles W. Morgan, lies beyond a strip of land projecting into the Mystic River, at Mystic, Connecticut. The vessel points towards the buildings of the Marine Museum on the right. In the foreground a plank walk extends across low swampy ground to the edge of the water, where are two small boats and three figures.
