At the opera ball, Coquardeau in black suit, white tie and waist coat, walking toward the right, both hands in his pockets, is followed by a man, disguised as a Charlatan, wearing a huge false nose and glasses, and who speaks in his ear. At bottom, within the print, perpendicular to the print edge at left, one reads clearly: "papa," by the hand of a small child, the eldest son of Gavarni.
