Gavarni, Paul, 1804-1866 · [ca. 1830–1858]
On a bridge, a man in 3/4 view turned to the right, his head bowed, is resting his head against a parapet on which he leans his elbow, one hand is on his chest under his coat, the other in his trousers' pocket. He wears a cotton bonnet over his ears and torn clothes. His hat before him on the ground, and at left, on a piece of paper, little wooden birds with feather-tails for children. The river and houses on the wharf in the background.
