Gavarni, Paul, 1804-1866 · 1858
A young woman dressed as a longshoreman at the opera ball. She is turned 3/4 to the left, below a lodge against which she is leaning, the head and eyes down, the waist arched; her half-opened shirt shows part of her throat, and her sleeve is resting on her shoulder, one of her arms completely naked, her hand resting on the back of her head. In the lodge are a clown and a woman in a longshoreman blouse; only one hand of is visible, and the two elbows of the first.
