Of oblong rectangular format, depicting the mock funeral of Lord Timothy Dexter of Newburyport in 1799. A row of small trees run along the foreground and in the register above, a hearse and gig are led by their drivers. On the bank, in the background, a catalfalque is surrounded by five mourners. Two fences divide the landscape; the top fence posts are surmounted by red coated armed soldiers.
