Mourning Picture for Josiah Bartlett and Mary Bartlett

Of rectangular format, of a woman bent over a neoclassical sarcophogus resting on claw feet on a rusticated base, in a wooded landscape with a foreground stream. There are trees behind and on the side and over the tomb, as well as a vine of roses. She is draped in classical style- white dress and a black robe. A house is at the left, partly concealed by shrubbery. Watercolor on paper. [see photo neg.#47512-A]
