Gavarni, Paul, 1804-1866 · April 20, 1839
A young man, curled hair, white tie around neck, seated in profile to the right, at a table covered with plates, on which are placed little houses representing foods, and labeled: "Ferme, Chateau, Usine," on a bottle one reads: "Vignable," on the decanter: "Cours d'eau," and on the bread: "Terres." He is about to devour a little bird which he holds in his fingers and a little pig which he holds at the edge of his fork. Top left, on the wall: "Cafe de Paris (chemin de Clichy)."
