In front, at the left -- apparently on an excursion-boat -- three people are seated, one of them reading from a book, and beyond them a girl and a man are standing. Across the water, at the right, are two large monitors. In the distance are other war vessels and a few small boats under sail. The butterfly, in outline, is below the group on the boat.
