A portrait of an elderly bearded man playing the lute. The model here is Anders Victor Andren, artist and illustrator. Among other work, Andren executed the ceiling decorations of the Opera Café, Stockholm. He is also an accomplished singer of songs of Bellman (the great Swedish poet), although he seldom appeared in public.
