"Miss New York State" charges husband with assault

New York.....Douglas Grundy, 35, and patrolman Vincent Leonardo appear to be taking a light view of Grundy's arrest on assault charges of his wife, Kay Douglas, picked as "Miss New York State" in the forthcoming "Miss Universe" contest. Later the covered up Kay (right) asked police to drop the charges. The 18-year-old beauty charged her husband with beating her in their two-room apartment after a night-long domestic argument. When she asked that the charges be dropped, she told police she was leaving for California Thursday and "I can't go without him". She also revealed she and Grundy are parents of a 10-month-old son. The contest people were somewhat surprised to find their "Miss" a "Mrs." and a mother.
