Native American Education: Strategies for Change; The Whole Child

The sixth program, "The Whole Child," welcomes Dr. Teresa LaFromboise (Miami), who looks at the various factors impacting Native American children and the innovative programs that are designed to fortify children's mental and physical wellbeing. The accompanying video documentary shows model programs at Sequoyah High School (Cherokee Nation, Park Hill, Oklahoma) and Cañoncito (Navajo Nation, New Mexico). Funded by a grant from SERC, Native American Education: Strategies for Change is broadcasted statewide in New Mexico and uplinked nationally as a part of the Satellite Educational Resource Consortium (SERC). Each of the six one-hour programs was a live, studio production with 21 minutes of video roll-ins, shot on location in schools from Alaska to New York.
