Here and Now, Big 10 Network, Tomorrow's contest between Ohio State and the Badgers will seem tame compared to the heat generated by those who can and can't watch the game on TV. Some state lawmakers are taking aim at cable companies and carrier of Badger games, the Big 10 Network. Big 10 Network, The Big 10 Network and major cable TV providers can't agree on how much getting the network in the cable line up should cost consumers. Big 10 would like to see it on the basic tier of stations, Charter Cable for example would like to see it as part of a pricier sports tier. With a lot of Badger fans mad, the UW-Madison Athletic Director and Chancellor wrote a letter to fans, legislators and the Governor explaining why the Big 10 Network is a good thing. Fair Access to Networks Bill, At the State Capitol, a new piece of legislation that addresses some of the issues surrounding the Big 10 Network. The proposal is called Fair Access to Networks bill. Democratic State Senator Dave Hanson and Republican State Representative Kitty Rhoades co-sponsored the bill. As the Badgers prepare to kick off against the number one rated Buckeyes this weekend, we asked some of you what you thought about the limited access to the big game. Student Loans, For many, student loans are the only possible way to meet rising tuition costs. Tom Petri introduced the bill that would try to keep the lenders in the Federal Family Education Loan Program or the Guaranteed Student Loan Program honest about what it costs them to originate student loans. Representative Petri wants the market to decide how much the lenders should be paid and taxpayer subsidies, not the politicians. A Life and Still Life', A new art exhibit at Madison Overture Center celebrates the life and work of painter Aaron Bohrod. Bohrod was an artist in residence at the UW-Madison from 1948-1972. Bohrod was a popular artist who worked in mixed media in every sense of the phrase. His paintings were fine art, but they also appeared on the cover of magazines like 'Time'. He also worked with prints, murals and ceramics. 'A Life and Still Life' celebrates what is the 100th anniversary of Bohrod's birth. (With photos of Bohrod and his work), A Life and Still Life', It was in 1984 that Wisconsin Public Television did a documentary about Aaron Bohrod. And we now have a clip of him talking about his work. Global Warming, Some members of the state Senate have taken up the fight against global warming. Commentator Jamie Kuhn thinks that's a good idea.
