Jones Beach State Park, one of the State Parks under the jurisdiction of the Long Island State Park Commission, is located near Wantagh, on the South Shore of Long Island, thirty-three miles from New York City and is easily reached by automobile, train or bus. The Long Island State Parkways, Sunrise Highway and Merrick Road connect with the causeways leading directly into Jones Beach. major attractions are surf, bay and heated pool bathing, boardwalk, restaurants and cafeterias, night features at the Marine Theatre, children's playgrounds, shuffleboards, archery, pitch-putt golf and other outdoor games.
