This episode of New York Voices looks at rebuilding efforts post September 11th. Standing atop the Empire State Building on a sunny day Daily News columnist Pete Hamill tells Thirteen's Rafael Pi Roman that the skyline was altered but the people are what really makes the city. "We were knocked down on Tuesday, we were on one knee on Wednesday, we were on the ropes on Thursday and on Friday... we were up". Hamill goes on to give his view on how the character of the city has changed since the tragedy, and what should be done with " ground zero". The show also examines re-building the fire department with former commissioner Tom Von Essen. Other voices include: Singers Suzanne Vega and Laurie Anderson on the impact on the arts, and Marian Fontana with a eulogy for firefighter Dave Fontana.
