Karsh, Yousuf, 1908-2002 · 1964
The author of Brideshead Revisited in the library of his country estate in Taunton. At a welcoming gourmet lunch, he paid finicky attention to the protocol of dining, the succession of courses, and the choice of wine. The quintessential snob, he bounded down the centuries-old stone steps to greet us, but chose to ignore the extended hand of our driver (Karsh, 1983).
