Helen Keller and an unknown man play timpani drums. Martha Graham is holding Keller at the elbows, while Keller has her hands out, palms down, feeling the vibrations of the beats. While filming Helen Keller in Her Story, Helen Keller visited Martha Graham's dance studio in 1954. There she listened to drums by feeling their beats, and participated in several of the dances by feeling the vibrations of the music and movement of those around her. More footage from her visit to the studio can be seen in this video.
