“Points on Training for Wheelmen” was written by Thomas W. Eck. and published by E. C. Stearns & Co. (Syracuse, NY) in 1894. They created this pamphlet after noting the need for a “practical and handy manual on the art of training for the bicycle track.” The pamphlet provides information about physical condition, nutrition, equipment, outfits, speed development, and care after exercising. The last few pages list world records and have advertisements for bicycle tires. According to the pamphlet, "Eck spent the better part of his active life fitting men for athletic trials, and with a degree of success that justly gives him distinction as a professional trainer."
