Phil thanks Helen for the photo of herself she enclosed in her last letter. He now has photos of her, Art's kids, and Hazel that he often takes out to look at because they bring pleasant memories and make him more determined to return. He's glad to hear Jay has still not been called, and has heard from Harry that he received his questionnaire. He was paid yesterday and their pay was in French money, which "looks more like cigarette coupons than like real honest to goodness money." Today was Sunday so he had no work and played ball for a while. More talk about the weather.
