Plans to build a Performing Arts Center in Albuquerque have brought increased attention to the financial woes facing New Mexico's music, dance, and drama groups. The future of organizations like the New Mexico Symphony Orchestra remains unsure. At Week's End we'll discuss the arts in this state, the symphony in particular. Can and will it be preserved? Just last year, the NMSO's image was one of hope and pride. The Albuquerque group had made good in this state and wherever the group made an appearance. Today some say, the symphony's musical caliber far exceeds its budget limitations. Conductor, Neal Stulberg, and the musicians recently came out public with financial ailments now affecting the veteran Albuquerque organization. An $800,000 deficit was made to the musicians, which was an economic hurdle to make ends meet. Guests: Neal Stulberg (NMSO Conductor) and George Sampson (NMSO Director of Development).
