Pike, Phillip N. (Newman), 1895-1953 · December 17, 1918
Phil got the chance to visit Paris for a few days, but didn't think that it lived up to expectations. It had some fine old buildings and beautiful art, but he doesn't think it can compare to New York. He's sending home a book that he bought there that shows some of the principle buildings. He saw in the paper that Barrington was defeated and "failed to carry a single ward," to Phil's surprise. Quite a few men have already left the field so he thinks his chances of leaving within the year are good.
