Arnold Friedmann, a founding member of the Interior Design Educators Council, receives a Fellow Membership certificate from Curt Sherman, left, IDEC president and Ben Gunter, right, IDEC Board Chairman. Professor Friedmann was Head of the Department of Textiles Clothing and Environmental Arts then tenured Professor of Design until his retirement in 1990 when he became Professor Emeritus. Upon the publication of his Critical Study of Interior Design Education (1968), he became a major moving force in the field of design education and continued designing, lecturing and writing after his retirement.
