Breur writes about her reasons for writing a book on her family's, as her mother and father were resistance fighters during World War II and her father died when she was very young. She talks about how her family did not speak to her about what happened to her father, or her mother's time in the Ravensbrück concentration camp. The book is meant to tell the story of the art her mother produced while in the concentration camp and the women and children in them.
