Billy Burke Edwards, wounded American war veteran who was recently freed by an English court for the "poverty slaying" of his infant daughter, Brenda, is shown as he arrived on the S.S. Marine Marlin today with his wife, Brenda, and their son, Billy. Indianapolis, Edwards' home city, raised $1,000 and sent a lawyer to defend Edwards at his trial. The tragedy was the outgrowth of desperate attempts to live on $4.50 a week. The lawyer, James N. Dawson, said that Edwards is "mentally and physically ill... one of the many victims of the war."
