Letter from Benjamin Smith Lyman to Edward Gilbertson

Lyman is concerned about Gilbertson's long illness and hopes for recovery with the better summer weather. He expresses appreciation for the guidance and information Gilbertson has given him, in particular with regard to Japanese art. He notes that Gilberton's papers are well-received and were used to assist Captain Zalinski prepare for a lecture. Lyman discusses at length the progress of territorial expansion in the Philippines and prejudice against the Chinese.
