Daumier's prediction in this print did come true. Auguste "Coco" Romieu (1800-1855), became superintendent for the Arts in 1852 while Louis Désiré Véron (1798-1867), was elected deputy for the region of Sceaux. Here they are dressed up in state-robes. While Véron appears grand and powerful, Romieu has problems controlling his running nose.
