Three ladies to be married are walking to the neighboring village as there is a grand party there. This print refers to a painting by Gustave Courbet: "Les demoiselles de village" from 1851, exhibited at the 1852 Salon. Today the painting can be seen at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York.
