On this episode of Report from Santa Fe, Dr. Leonard Shlain discusses his books, “Art and Physics,” and “The Alphabet Versus the Goddess”, and “Sex, Time, and Power.” He recently gave a presentation about art and healing at the Museum of Modern Art in New York in conjunction with the Society of Art and Healthcare. After undergoing chemotherapy in 1974 from Hodgkin’s Lymphoma, he gave a speech at a conference about death and dying, and was later asked to write a chapter in a book about it. His attempts to make himself well led to the discovery of the theory that if you could make yourself ill, you could make yourself well. He does not entirely agree with this theory, but he concluded that there is a spectrum of responsibility that we have for being ill. “The visionary artist, throughout history, anticipates the great ideas of Science using image and metaphor prior to their expression in numbers and equations by Physicists.” Guest: Dr. Leonard Shlain (Author, Professor, Surgeon). Hostess: Lorene Mills.
