'Built in 1873 by First Parish Church during the pastorate of William Fish with money donated by Scituate native Josiah James, the James Library served as the lending library and Sunday School for many years. It now serves the entire South Shore as the James Library and Center for the Arts, encompassing a lending library, art gallery and concert performance venue. It is a very nice place!'
