Preston, William Gibbons · 1872
The World Peace Jubilee and International Music Festival was held in Boston in 1872 to commemorate the end of the Franco-Prussian War. The Boston Coliseum, which housed the event, was designed by William Preston and intended to be a temporary structure. The event was organized by composer and bandmaster Patrick Gilmore. The seated audience can be seen in the image with one man in the center facing the camera.
