Victoria Rex thinks better of it and won't recognise traitors or harbo(u)r their pirate-eers. Dated between 1861 and 1865. This Civil War envelope depicts a dismissive Britain (Victoria Rex) mounted on a lion gazing at the young upstart Confederacy, represented by the character of a rooster.
