July 1993
Man in a suit makes announcements at a Parcel C fundraiser and talent show; a woman stands at the microphone on the right waiting to speak. In the 1990s, the New England Medical Center negotiated with the City of Boston to build a parking garage on Parcel C in Chinatown, land which had previously been promised to Chinatown residents for a community center. The Chinese Progressive Association helped form the Coalition to Protect Parcel C, which was instrumental in halting the New England Medical Center's plan. This image was taken in July 1993, at a talent show to raise money to protect Parcel C. In the background, there is a banner hanging on the wall that reads: "No Garage on Oak St." There is a dragon costume lying on the stage between the speakers.
