See mufs001-xn-i1071 for alternate shot of site and first half of story from 1954 field notes (continued here): "So with wet but clean heads and feeling good because the car showed up on time for a change -- we set out at 7:30 that morning with the man who had received us the day before. We drove first to an archaeological site several miles outside of town where the director of the museum was permanently staying to direct the digging. The diggers were peasants and sometimes school children on an excursion who were given the fun and excitement of digging not for pay. The camp was interesting: two American tents, a makeshift kitchen of woven reed mats roped on poles around an enclosed area containing a shelf, chest and wood stove and a small table with camp stools grouped around a tremendous bright red beach umbrella which could be seen for miles in all directions. We had even seen it from the train the day before."
