A letter to Benjamin Silliman in which Edward Hitchcock writes about meeting with George Feathersonhaugh about his desire to publish a journal on geology in New York. Hitchcock writes that he told Featherstonhaugh he did not think two journals on geology could coexist in the area, and notes that Featherstonhaugh did not yet receive a letter Silliman had sent him.
