A letter to Edward Hitchcock in which Benjamin Silliman encourages Hitchcock to accept any potential offer for a professorship at Amherst College. Silliman also discusses some of Hitchcock's pieces for The American Journal of Science, and a remark made by William Maclure that has been met with much criticism.
