Hinçman, Matthew · 2010
A sculptural fence designed and created by Matthew Hinçman in 2010 at the Ellis Mendell Elementary School in Roxbury. The fence serves as a decorative gateway that leads to the school's playground. Black metal bars make up the fence, and in between them is a wooden door with decorations resembling twigs from a tree. Four blue half circles or arcs made of blue-painted metal top black metal bars. Beneath each of the blue half-circles is a motif painted in yellow: a heart, brain, eye, and hand. The black bars in between the blue arcs are topped with a metallic pinecone.
