30' tall monument composed of cannon barrels erected in 1873 in a plot of Mount Hope Cemetery dedicated to the burial of Civil War soldiers. A plaque on the monument reads "This lot purchased and monument erected by Encampment Charles Russell Lowell, Post 7 of Boston Grand Army of the Republic, Department of Massachusetts. Dedicated October 29, 1873. Cannon shot and shell appropriated by the 42nd Congress." These photos depict the monument in May 2020.
